A successful investigation of a subject yields its portrait. Danielle Eubank reaches into all her subjects, whether they be people, animals or natural phenomena, to reveal their essential quality: their individual “personality”. From an early graphic style that used saturated colours and bold compositions, her work has become intimate and painterly, using a selected palette to produce a much more textured surface. Eubank uses compositional structure to create movement and expose the meaning of the image. The subjects of her paintings are simple, natural phenomena but there is a strong sense of atmosphere to her pieces. Creating a memorable image is important to her - visual representations that grow with the viewer; that continue to be interesting over a long period of time. She sees each subject as an entity and attempts to capture a fleeting moment in the life of that object.
